How can my community start a character initiative?
The most important ingredient for developing a community of character is a strong Character Council, including representatives from local government, law enforcement, the faith community, education, commerce, and anyone else concerned about the heart of their community.
The Character Council Mission is to encourage good character throughout the community. This might include a resolution from your city council, family events at the zoo or city park, various media promotions each month, and award programs for citizens, schools, and companies of good character.
The Character Council Orientation course will help get you started, and you can get more information as you participate in the Character First! Network. Share the vision with others, and have them fill out a response card to help build your team.
