In his career he faced the same challenges that all managers and supervisors face in leading employees from a wide diversity of experience, cultural background, attitudes and dispositions.
Throughout his insurance career, Bob was fortunate to benefit from many training and leadership development opportunities. In reflecting upon those opportunities, he came to realize that the training was consistently focused on leading for outcomes and performance, but never about intentionally growing the culture of character of an organization which is the primary foundation from which its moral compass and the quality of performance and outcomes spring.
It was right after his retirement that he discovered Character First!, a common sense approach to the development of leaders and their ability to create character-based workplace cultures which produce ethically strong and highly productive employees.
In 2009, Bob received the Daniel L. Ritchie Award from the Colorado Ethics in Business Alliance (CEBA) for excellence in business ethics.
